    5. A chocolate bar is shaped like a triangular prism. The triangular face has base 4 cm and height 3 cm. The bar is 15 cm long. Find the volume.
  4. Problem solving with volume. Problem Solving

    1. A rectangular box has dimensions 20 cm × 15 cm × 10 cm. Small cubes with side length 2.5 cm are packed into the box. How many cubes fit in the box? Show your working.
    2. A builder needs to pour a concrete path. The path is 15 m long and 1.2 m wide. The concrete needs to be 10 cm deep.
      1. Calculate the volume of concrete needed in m3.
      2. Concrete costs $180 per m3. What is the total cost?
    3. A storage container is shaped like a triangular prism. The triangular cross-section has a base of 2.4 m and a perpendicular height of 1.8 m. The container is 6 m long.
      1. Find the volume in m3.
      2. Convert the volume to litres.
      3. If the container is 60% full of grain, what volume of grain (in m3) is stored?
    4. Two containers both hold 1200 cm3. Container A is a rectangular prism with a square base of side 10 cm. Container B is a triangular prism with a right-angled isosceles triangular cross-section where both legs are 8 cm. Find the height of Container A and the length of Container B.
